Stick Figure Science of Coronavirus Infection

1. ASYMPTOMATIC means a person can feel good and not have symptoms of COVID-19, but still be infected with the coronavirus.

2. ASYMPTOMATIC SPREAD means you feel good but you infect other people who get sick while you stay healthy.

3. UP & DOWN SPREAD Virus particles spread two ways: 1) upwards by tiny, invisible aerosols that hang in the air and 2) by droplets that drop down to the ground or on surfaces.

4. DOWN BUT NOT OUT… The coronavirus is a  fighter! Even if attacked by your immune system, it punches back and sometimes wins. If a viral knockout punch takes out your immune system, the virus takes over your cells and instructs them to make more virus! When this happens you get sick with COVID-19.

5. SICK WITH COVID-19 means a person has fevers, chills, aches, and is tired all the time. IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS, STAY HOME! If you feel you need a doctor’s care, FIRST CALL A TELEMEDICINE expert for an opinion. Don’t take your germs out in public, especially to a hospital or doctor’s office. Some COVID-19 patients get really sick, sometimes for months with lung infections, heart, kidney, liver, and brain problems. Some even die.

6. VENTILATION of indoor room air is important for preventing infection because it moves virus particles out away from people so they don’t breathe the virus in and become infected.
